TACKLING LONELINESS AN ISOLATION

Elderly SERVICES

As part of our elderly services, the smile brigade offer karaoke and cupcake afternoons, to residents in Hammersmith and Fulham care homes.

The afternoon is approximately 1.5 hours long and is an opportunity for residents and their families, as well as staff to connect and develop positive relationships.

Music can provide emotional and behavioural benefits for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. Our Karaoke and Cupcake afternoon's help keep residents engaged and stimulated as well as promoting positive interactions and reducing social isolation. Establishing emotional connections can also make residents feel valued, cared for and understood.

Our karaoke and cupcake afternoons not only benefit the residents and their families but they also help establish links in the community with local businesses and organisations. We run our karaoke and cupcake afternoons in conjunction with local businesses who donate a hamper containing cake and other sweet treats as well as fruits and vegetables.

Music can help shift mood, manage stress and stimulate positive interactions. It can also help people with Dementia to recall memories and emotions.
