The Smile Brigade are a new charity offering free services and activities to vulnerable people, with a focus on the homeless, the elderly and those accessing the mental health services (including people with learning disabilities and/or physical and mental impairments). The idea is to help take people away from the more negative aspects of life by providing positive and meaningful activities.

By offering services such as hairdressing and befriending and activities such as our karaoke and cupcake afternoons, we hope to help bring people out of isolation whilst gaining new skills and confidence.

Our Charity Objectives

Our purpose is shaped by our charity objectives:

1. The prevention or relief of poverty by the provision of items (such as furniture, bedding, clothing and food) and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.

2. The advancement of health by the provision and promotion of activities that have a proven beneficial effect on health.

3. The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by delivering high quality services that enable housing stability, financial security, improved wellbeing and the development of positive relationships.

We want to help make a difference to peoples lives, wherever we can and however we can.

Our services help people who are lonely and isolated to feel like a valued member of the community whilst promoting social networks. Through activities that develop basic skills including communication, it is more likely that the people we help will find the confidence to access other beneficial services such as healthcare for example.

Benefits of Activities..

  • Reduced Anxiety/Depression

  • Maintaining Skills and Independance

This is a free service funded and run by volunteers with big hearts who want to make a difference in the local community, boosting morale and confidence of vulnerable groups.
